ABOUT US — ROTO-ROOTER® PLUMBERS:

Roto-Rooter® is the nation's largest provider of sewer and drain cleaning service along with repair plumbing. The Company is made up of company-owned franchise areas as well as hundreds of franchisees.

The Contra Costa, Napa and Solano County franchises are owned and operated by the Bristol family. Their roots are in the bay area since the early 1940s.

Joe Bristol began working at Roto-Rooter® in 1964. His wife, Mardell, and he purchased the Contra Costa County franchise from the owners he was working for in 1976.

Solano County was acquired in 1998 and Napa was added in 2002. Son, Jerry Bristol manages the office in Fairfield, and that office covers Napa and Solano Counties.

There are two other sons who also work in the business. They are Brian, a supervisor, and Mark, their construction department supervisor and backhoe operator. They both work in the Concord office covering Contra Costa County.

Approximately 65 employees work full-time between the two offices and among the three counties. Besides the sons, there is a nephew, a niece and two daughters-in-law who work in the family-owned business. Joe's nephew, Larry Fitch, is the manager of Contra Costa County; he's been with the company since 1976.

The reason for adding franchises at this late date and not retiring is obvious. There are a great many family members in the business who will continue running the business many years after Joe and Mardell are gone.

We believe a family-owned business tries to be fair, personal, and more professional than most businesses. The Bristols and their employees are related to and have many friends in the counties we service. They work, live and play in those three counties and feel they have more at stake than just their franchise and business.

Roto-Rooter®'s history in Contra Costa County started back in the mid 40s with the offering of drain-cleaning service out of the Oakland office of Roto-Rooter®, and it expanded from there. As the business grew, other related services were added along the way. Those services included plumbing repair, sewer construction, hydro-vacing (water jetting), pumping, line tracing, line televising, back-flow testing required by the State of California, and smoke testing to hunt for leaks in walls and underground. We also do some manhole rehabilitation for cities and public agencies in our franchise territories. Our latest endeavor is Trenchless pipe replacement for sewer and water. We offer all services to homeowners, commercial and industrial accounts. Several of the cities and counties use us as backup for their crews. We are available 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, 365 days a year, including Christmas and other holidays. We try very hard to respond within a two-hour time frame or less.

At Roto-Rooter® we provide another rare service in today's market---phones that are answered all the time by a human being that works for us (not a machine that tells you to punch in this or that number and sit on hold until someone may or may not get back to you!). We also have an on-call supervisor at all times.

Our family businesses coupled with well-trained, professional employees, are here ready to assist you with your drain or plumbing problems both day and night.

With sons only, it is obvious that this Roto-Rooter® franchise is a sports-minded family. We have supported youth and adult sports programs for many years. You only have to visit the Concord office to see the volume of pictures and plaques that grace the hall walls. We also donate to various local charities and churches. We are members of the local Chamber of Commerce and maintain membership in the Better Business Bureau, where we are proud to have been on the Honor Roll.

Our intent is to remain in all three counties for many years to come and have our sons and grandchildren carry on our family-owned business.
